So this kid pulled up next to me in his '06 GT and gave me a rev. I wasn't really paying attention to when the light turned green so he got the jump on me, but I can't help but feel like crap. I mean he just kept going no problem. I'm sure the slight head start he got on me helped but I know that wasn't the only thing in his favor. It was the first time that I've ever felt slow in my car. Just thought I'd share the moment with you guys.

Is your car a cobra? if so, with the mods in your sig i think u shoulda been right there with a stock GT if not a bit quicker. He prolly had some stuff under the hood, dont feel too bad lol

Don't sweat it. At least it was a noble death. I'd feel slow if it were an integra or something.

I got destroyed over and over by some random z28 (ls1) last year. Instead of feeling sad, I felt happy. I was worthy enough to waste gas on, lol.

Yeah it's a Cobra. His car definitely was not stock.

For future reference (and before it gets locked), street racing threads aren't allowed on StangNet. Just wanna give ya a heads-up before the lockdown comes on your thread.

Yeah I have a cam in mine and i only ran a 13.7 where the 05 or 06 ran a 13.6 (my maf is broken) so dont feel bad there a good half a second faster and $20,000 more to begin with.

Stock 06 GT - 300 FWHP, brand new, plus unknown modifications have been made.

95 Cobra - 240 FWHP + Exhaust = MAYBE 260. Some say they're underrated, so call it 280 FWHP.

The 06 has 3.55s, he has 3.73s, so thats pretty much a draw.

I'd take the '06 in that race everytime.

So you gonna post your timeslip?

I was thinking the same thing as Adam, you'll need a little bit more in that mod list to hold onto an 06 GT, but as other's said, feel glad you didn't get beaten by a neon or something...being beat by a mustang isn't really that bad

oh, and just because I have a funny feeling...

Yeah, I figured the best way to do things was to build a strong foundation then build on it. HCI swap should be happening within the next few months.

Oh and my time slip flew out the window on the way home.

Stock for stock a 2006 V6 stang will beat our 12 and 13 year old GTs. I'd put money on it.

You may think so, but that's not true at all.

My car is more or less stock and the '05+ v6 models get eaten.
Proven with more than 1 v6 on half a dozen occasions.
And going along with the same theme as this thread...
"I went to the track to prove it".

More or less stock?

My roomate Shawn has an 06 V6, and I have my car, but if I remember right his is faster then mine was when stock. I just remember the stock engine crapping out at sub 5K rpm levels and having the ridiculous timing retard kick in after shifting.

Poo Poo on the V6's, lol. I am with Caldwell I have no had the chance to go against one but a friend of mine had one, and it didnt impress me, and I raced one a long long time ago (at the track of course ) in my moms grand cherokee, and he only got it by 2 cars or so. Not much really held its own against the jeep though (stock for stock) lol. I used to love beating up on all my ricer friends with their ricer civics and integra's in high school.

I'm just saying, if you do some googling you'll find accounts of 14 second runs all over the place. Thats all I got as I'll never own a 6, nor will my roomate take his up to epping with me.
