Live and learn, man. Dont beat yourself up too bad about it. Its happened to the best of us. Look at the positive, even though its hard right now, at least it was $900 instead of all the cash, and you prolly wont ever get scammed like this again. Yeah there were a lot of signs it was a scam, but excitement and ignorance will get in the way. Hope you catch him, good luck.

BTW, posts on talk dont count towards your post count, they only go up in tech

Ahh, sounds way too familiar... The EXACT same thing happened to me... except i was gonna but a 65' stang... only difference... i got all the money back before it was too late. an hour after sending the payment i faxed ebay the receipt and they said they have to record of the sale... i called western union right then and there and stopped payment. emailed ebay they confirmed it was a fake... It really does suck, i would've lost 6k. All i can say is to check the person's feedback, and if ur gonna buy a car go check it out no matter wat.

Also, don't buy from junkyards unless you know that the part works and have enough knowledge about the car to make sure... I had a bad experience with alternators...all i could do is go on yellow pages and write a bad review for them =\ ppl say i could've taken them to court and won... but how long would that 've taken... wasn't worth 75 $...

That sucks! I got taken on a supercharger kit for my SVT focus when I had it - $1,200 - put a paypal claim against the guy but only got $400 out of it, but I got to keep the stuff he did end up sending me (manifold, blower, pulley, couple other little bits and pieces)...so I made all my money back in the end.

Better start saving again, good luck!

Sorry about your loss man. There are plenty of things you can do about it. One of which is to get a police report on it, this is because if the perp is caught he will be charged with a felony, it is over $300. So if you have any information about the perp then tell it to us. Power comes in numbers and hopefully this perp will be caught. Also report it to ebay and I believe they will reimberse you with some amount of the money. Rmember police dont bite, call them!!!!

Thread closed.

Contrary to warning (read editorial comment in post #14), the OP failed to heed warning to not post contact information for a private party.

Despite how bad we all feel for his loss, StangNet is not going to accept any liability by being the medium for any organizing of physical, financial, or any other retaliation.
