I'm currently searching and am about to buy an x-pipe for my car. I was wondering are the hp gains mostly the same throughout the all the brands. Also, I live on an island and the sea/salt rusts stuff real bad. One of those things is exhaust. Is the non SS stuff alright as long as I keep it rinsed off or should I definitely spring for SS? If the "non SS" stuff is alright what is a good material to look for.

Thanks in advance!

The gains are basically about the same for all the brands give or take a few. I would just go with the best quality peice like Bassani, Magnaflow, or SLP....

I posted some sound clips of my bassani catted x and bassani catback a while ago in talk section, search for, "bassani exhaust clips finally" and that should bring you to it. And the non SS stuff is gonna get rusted plain and simple. Not sure if you ever heard of mustangexhaust.com/forums but they have clips from most all types of exhaust.

Correct me if Im wrong but its either SS or aluminum for exhaust right?

Stainless steel & Aluminized. There is also a couple of different types of stainless steel which are 409 & 304. Either will work fine & wont rust, but supposedly 304 is superior???

60s sounding you would want to go with an H pipe. Maybe MRT. The H give it a more muscle car sounding, X pipe more raspy nascarish sounding.

Get rid of the flow master crap and get some magnaflows with an h-pipe.

most midpipes will give you 7-12whp gains. Catbacks are pretty much worthless (1-2 whp gains). I love the sound of my bassani...

Yup, or combine your Flowmasters with an O/R X-Pipe and scare little children like i used to. Sounded amazing to me and was raspy while also deep. All personal preference
