My car is a 91 GT with an O/R Bassani X-pipe, BBK Shorty Headers, and Flowmaster American Thunder CB. Ever since I put the Bassani X on, my car drones really bad around 2000 rpm and it resonates my interior and causes even more rattles and little buzzing sounds. The car sounds awesome at idle, but thats about it. The rest of the time I think it is just way too loud. What would sound good with BBk's and a Bassani O/R X-pipe?

Magnaflow probably would be quieter for ya, but pricey. The cheaper exhaust, ie Mac, Flows, etc, are all loud. I love my drone though, it sounds really nice. The growl of the mac's at around 2200 puts a smile on my face.

A set of longtubes usually kills most of the drone.

SLP loudmouth exhaust is just that, loud but it has no drone because they use resonators not mufflers.

do Spintech's have a drone at all? I'm thinking about putting them on my next mustang along with an x-pipe to get that exotic sound.

You put an off road h-pipe on your car and now your complaining about the drone. Just put the stock h pipe back on and stop whining already.

Or turn in your Mustang for a nice conservative Camry with a sleepy tan interior and old man gold paint.

Won't work, I have the stock H with flowmasters and I get the drone too at ~2,000 rpm but it's over at 2,200-2,300 rpm and less than 1,900 rpm, so it's a pretty narrow band and not too hard to stay out of.

Flowmaster has new line: Extreme Off-Road Muffler.

From summit:
"Flowmaster Extreme Off-Road series mufflers can handle just about anything you can serve up. These super-tough, off-road mufflers are constructed of 14-gauge diamond plate steel. Flowmaster Extreme Off-Road mufflers offer 10 times the crush strength of standard OE-style mufflers, and, best of all, they are made in the USA. Flowmaster Off-Road series mufflers feature Flowmaster's patented Delta Flow chamber technology; by precisely placing three internal baffles in the case, and welding them to exacting specifications, Flowmaster's new Extreme Off-Road series Delta Flow mufflers go a step beyond their original 40 series mufflers. These mufflers not only out-scavenge the originals, but they also provide superior reductions in exterior sound levels and resonance, which are transmitted through the exhaust system and into the vehicle. You get all of this, plus improved torque and horsepower, and that famous Flowmaster sound!"

They are heavy but one would think that thick shell would cut drone very much. It would be nice to know how much they weight.

If some one can try 'em out.

Flowmasters are famous for drone, period. If you want to avoid drone, your best bet is to go for anything with a straight-through design, rather than a chambered muffler. I actually even had drone with my Dynomax Super Turbos - not bad, just enough to know it was there, though, and annoy the poo outta me.

I'd recommend Pypes Violator muffs right off the bat - good design, great price, AWESOME sound - but you might also look into Dynomax Ultra-Flows, Hooker Maximum Flows, Magnaflows, or anything else along those lines.

I put spintechs on mine... absolutely blow the flows outta the water

They are much quieter at idle and below 2500-3000, but once you get above there they go from like a a low growl sound to and open roudy sound. I love em'

OH yeah, don't order the kit, just get the mufflers... the dynomax tubes that came with mine fit like ass
