Well I have BBK shorties, and a custom mandrel/crimp bent 2 1/2" exhaust (crimped in some areas to tune the exhaust), no cats or mufflers and I love the way it sounds!! kinda like a USAR Hooters ProCup car lol, only problem is, it's not loud enough for me
But, back on topic, the drone doesn't have a whole lot to do with how long the header tubes are. Flowmaster's, 40 series in particular, are infamous for it. But that's what you get for buying them. They're a damn good muffler...there's a reason they're company name is "Flow-master" and there's a reason why everyone and they're f**kin mother has a set on their 5.0 lol.
