Well I have BBK shorties, and a custom mandrel/crimp bent 2 1/2" exhaust (crimped in some areas to tune the exhaust), no cats or mufflers and I love the way it sounds!! kinda like a USAR Hooters ProCup car lol, only problem is, it's not loud enough for me I'm going 3" as soon as I can, w/ side exits .

But, back on topic, the drone doesn't have a whole lot to do with how long the header tubes are. Flowmaster's, 40 series in particular, are infamous for it. But that's what you get for buying them. They're a damn good muffler...there's a reason they're company name is "Flow-master" and there's a reason why everyone and they're f**kin mother has a set on their 5.0 lol.

I dont know why their company name is flow master, it should be flow stopper since they just barely outflow stock mufflers. Everybody has them because back in the 80s all the way to the mid 90s they were damn near the only company making decent sounding aftermarket mufflers. By todays standards they are far from a "damned good" muffler. Ask the guys who live up north about how quickly their flowmasters get rust holes in them.

Magnaflow probably would be quieter for ya, but pricey. The cheaper exhaust, ie Mac, Flows, etc, are all loud. I love my drone though, it sounds really nice. The growl of the mac's at around 2200 puts a smile on my face.

get the Bullets, cheap as hell, and sound awesome at WOT. Tame at idle and normal cruising. Plus they flow better than flowbastards.
Flowbastards in my opinion have the nastiest idle of all mufflers, but thats it.
