I have a 87 gt convertible converted to a saleen with suspension, body kit, wing, and performance heads.

My vert is carburated and is manual, everytime i drive it my ground wire keeps burning up, it gets really hot and when I put black electric tape it burns it right off. Its grounded and everything, nothing is loose.
what can be the problem and where?

Once I had the small ground wire that runs from the terminal to the fender burn up. It turned out that the negative battery cable was not grounded well at the block and it was relying on the small wire. I took the cable loose from the block, cleaned both surfaces up good with some sandpaper, put it back on and it was good as new. Of course I also repaired the small wire.
