I have a question for all you "5 Speed, Manual gurus"

So like I said in my first post, I have just bought a 03 Mustang GT. This is actually my first manual car that I have ever owned. Now driving a manual is like a second nature to me. However, I still dont know all the ends and outs it. So I am going to do my best to describe a slight problem I am having.

Normally when I shift it is smooth with no problems. But sometimes it is harder to shift into a gear than other times. What I have figured out is when this problem occurs I have to have the clutch all the way on the floor for me to shift smooth. Shifting from 1st to 2nd seems to be the worst. This is going to sound weird, but it only happens during a certain time of day. I am probably over thinking it LOL. But I am just wondering if it could be my stock clutch or possibly my shifter itself.

Thoughts?

I think I have a similar problem. When the car is cold I have trouble going from first to second quickly with out a grind. After driving 10 min or so the problem goes away. If I shift it slow into second it does not do it. You got a similar problem?

Not a Guru but I had a similar problem.. asked a couple of friends and was told possibly bad synchronizes in the transmission, for me I had to adjust the clutch. on the top side of the gas pedal there should be linkage for the clutch with a white clutch quadrant with teeth on it. pulling the clutch pedal up and towards the driver seat you can adjust the clutch cable using the teeth on the quadrant. like i said before not a guru but the adjustment helped me.

1st-2nd shifts will be grind/notchy when the transmission is cold in the winter, and will stop when it warms up. This is a known issue with the synchros that Ford has a TSB for. As far as shifting in general, it could be that your fluid needs to warm up before smooth shifting can be done. Have you ever had your transmission fluid changed?
