I recently purchased a '99 model 7.5" rear complete with the whole shebang of the disc brake setup. I have been told that it would fit under my fox with no problems then I have been told also that it wont. Which is it? I eventually want to run the FR500 17x10.5 deep dish on the rear.

Thanks
Nate

cause I only gave 50.00 for it and the local jy's want 700.00 for the 8.8.
after all several ppl that I run around with that builds rear ends told me that the only diff is in the carrier and r\p gears, axles are the same size.

If it's anything like the 8.8 rear of that year, it's WAY to wide. The 99+ rears were widened to push the wheels out for the new body. It will be 1.5" wider EACH side so 3" total wider than your fox rear. You'll never get 10.5" rims to fit with that

The only usable parts to you are the disk brake parts. Take them off, reinstall the axle shafts and sell the rear end.

Then purchase some Fox-lenght 5-lug axles or Ranger 5-lug axles and you'll need custom brackets for the brakes from North Cobra.

http://www.northracecars.com/catalog/brakes/brakes.htm

Then you'll get the disk brakes, 5-lug and keep the stock Fox track that you'll need to run wheels that wide. Keep in mind there will be other fit issues with quad shocks, tailpipes, inner fender, etc.

Would I be able to run those wheels with the '94 '95 rear end? Or woiuld I need to do the axle swap for my stock rear? I have No need to go with the disc brake setup I just thought the rear was a good deal and couldn't pass it up. It dont matter to me if I have drum or disc just as long as I have brakes period.

The only way you are gonna have a chance of running 9" or wider Ford wheels is to keep the Fox track out back. ANy wider will push the wheels out past the fender lip.

If you go with aftermarket wheels, you can just get deeper offsets but Ford-type wheels don't come that deep

The wheels I am refering to are the ones in the muscle mustang mag advertised for 129.00 and up the deep dish are I think either 9.5 or 10.0 wide and sell for 149.00 ea. for 17"

Correct me if I am wrong by all means. All I know is what I got adn What I want to do wheel wise. I am dumd to the whole 5-lug exchange

If this is true, sell the rear you bought and just buy the most basic of 5 lug conversion kits ( front rotors, rear axles, drums) and be done with it.. 5.0 resto offers an inexpensive soultion.......BUT, if the performance of your vehicle is more important to you than just getting a set of 5 lug wheels..go ahead and do the 5 lug conversion the "right" way ( sn95 spindles/brakes, and for god sake put some rear disc brakes on that thing! ) just my 2 cents:D
