My cobra has 109000 miles on it, and had the fatory plugs until 2000 miles ago(bought it used). I just spent 45 min reading and searching imrc stuff, and I was wondering if I should break into the intake to take a look. I don't notice anything weird when I get on the gas, especially with the gears, 3200 rpms flies by. I do feel them open sometimes, but not very often. just curious if it was worth it if I don't notice a problem. I am sure they look like crap. I don't think whoever had this car before me did any maintance to it. Thanks in advance, and sorry about the repost. chris

I say its worth a look. Also you may want to try seafoaming the car

Negative on the Seafoam. It would be a better idea to open 'er up and clean out the IMRCs the old fashioned way.

With that many miles on it, it's going to take some elbow grease to dislodge all of the carbon build-up (besides you wouldn't want the larger pieces of crud to be ingested during the combustion process).

Here's a good "how-to:"

I agree on the Seafoam thing, it's not going to completely clean them like they need to be cleaned...especially the secondary ports...

I'd just take the intake off and clean them by hand...it's a good afternoon project...make sure you get a haynes manual too to get the correct torque #'s and sequences to put it back together too...

Seafoam is good for cleaning the carbon in the combustion chamber. He can clean his intake by hand and then seafoam. Alot of people in the SN95 forums in SVTperformance has had a lot of success

they seem to be opening and closing fine, i'm sure they look like crap though. I have a chilton manual for it. Just don't want to screw something up, being bored. if I have seen it done before I'm not as nervous. I have seen the inside of a stroked 4.6 dohc motor, completely taken down to the pistons, but that motor didn't have the imrc's, and wasn't mine. i'll just add on some bolt ons for now. I have a good mechanic if I need one. thanks though. I couldn't get the pdf to open.

You tried using Adobe Acrobat reader, correct?

If that doesn't work, visit the following URL for a list of search results. You should be able to sort through some of the information and find further info or pics on how to properly clean your IMRCs (search result for "IMRC"):
