If it is only 500 miles check the dealer. Some will go ahead and fix it within a few miles. I had it done on my old Dakota when the AC went out 15 days after the warranty expired.

+1, my neighbor had his trans rebuilt after it went out 200 miles out of warranty. Dodge authorized the repair with little hassle.
