Does Anyone Know where I can get a decent Fiberglass hood at a good price....I need at least a 3 in cowl or something that will give me more room its for my Friends 65 coupe were putting a 351 windsor with an air gap intake and where gonna need room.....any suggestions would be helpful...thanks

I wished Cervinis or HO Fibertrends made hoods for old stangs, their quality is good enough that a scuff and spray is good enough for a daily driver, I mean they probably have a 98% approval rating. I haven't heard of any classic mustang 'glass consistancy of being of that quality. There's Maier and Tony Branda, but I've only heard about a 50% rating on them. Also depends on where you live, shipping can run $150 and up as its always truck freight, if you live close you can pick up and save $$$.
I got mine from Mustangs Unlimited... It took a little work for perfect fitment, but nothing extreme. Its constructed well and didn't kill my wallet. I got the 2.5" rise and that was way more then enough room and looks a little better than the 3", in my opinion. Cost was around $380.
An example of its strength... I pulled a bonehead stunt after getting the car back from its new paint job. I didn't get the hood latch assemby tightened down after adjusting it, and the very first time I took the car out, the hood flew up... It totally smashed my cowl cover (the car's cowl), but just slightly nicked the hood... I was amazed that it didn't disintegrate, as I was going about 40mph... I don't advise this as a structural test, however...... It has a tendancy to tick off the body shop guys.

I can STRONGLY recommend the new cowl hood that Mustang Depot is selling (it is from a new vendor). My paint and body man (who has messed with LOTS of fiberglass parts) tells me this is the best quality he has seen (this translates into very little prep work). Shipping was not bad, either.

Does anyone have any experience with t he mustand depot hoods? I like their three inch cowl hood that they have on their project 1965 car. is that hood a high quality hood? hows prep on them?

The hood is solid, doesn't fit perfectly, but it is well worth the money.
What's the weight on these things? Are they steel re-inforced?
