Okay, this may be unrealistic but I need a wide band O2 for the Cobra and have $200 to spend. Can I get one? Which one should I go with?

Thanks for the input guys :nice:

Yeah you could turn the rears off or some guys do have an extra bung welded in for the Wideband. I do not think it matters what side, but you can do some searching and see where most guys put them. I wanna get one as well :nice:

Coolio, just switch off the rears and use one of the bungs, got it. I think I will order the AEM on ebay for $200 :nice:

It sounds like I will need it from what I understand. Can I data log with that?

And Willie, so I just do a data log with the sniper and another for the wideband and send them to you?

If you're looking for a cheap option, build (or buy) the DIY Wideband Meter. It can be found here: Built Oz DIY Wideband Units. You can buy it for $200, or build it yourself for $40-60. My buddy decided to build his, and it works fine.

Another good option is Innovate's LC1. It can be found here: LC-1 Lambda Cable with 02 Sensor : Wideband Controller Cable for Dyno, ECU, Data Acquisition, or Gauge Applications. I also know a guy who uses an LC1 with his MegaSquirt standalone. It also works well. The nice thing about the LC1 is that it's small and self-contained. The box can be mounted anywhere on the car; it's weatherproof.

Either are good options, and in fact, I have been deciding which one I want :nice:

$199 or best offer + free shipping . You can probably get it for 180ish

Probably the cheapest you will find.

EDIT: they also have a ton of these listed, so find one that does not have an offer and offer away :nice:
Thanks, I am gonna send an offer of $180 :nice:

Unless this is a better gauge?

What do you need it for? Do you want/need the ability to datalog?

Just a tid-bit of info, any wideband you go with has to be located before the cat's in your system.

Also, the lc-1 has the ability to emulate a narrowband signal on one of the analog outputs.

I dont have cats. I need a wide band cause I am tuning my car. If I can data log the car (with my Sniper software) and data log with a wideband then I can send that info to Sniper and get a custom tune without the expense/time/traveling to a dyno and get the tune just as good. Also when I do future upgrades it will be easier to remap the computer. Really I dont want one and am fine with my narrow band one I have but since my tuner and everyone else says I need a wide band to tune FI properly then I guess i have to bite the bullet and spend more money :(
I really thought I was done spending money on the Cobra for a while but i guess not :(

Bill,

I have the LC-1 in my car. It seems to work just fine for me although I hear they can be picky if installed incorrectly.

For the placement of the sensor, I would go upstream of the cats and have a bung welded in. Most widebands come with a bung for this. If you place the sensor in the rear O2 it will be too far back IMO.

Mine is welded a few inches behind the (Drivers Side) factory O2 sensor.

You want to put it into the drivers side because this is the side that will tend to read a little leaner between the 2 banks.

Also, be sure you solder every connection and be sure your grounds are up to par and follow the directions very carefully. :nice:

I dont have cats so I cant mount upstream of them :p

I get ya though. I like the looks of the AEM better but if the LC1 is a better unit then I would go that route :nice:

Honestly, they each have their ups/downs….but both would be a good choice.

Now if you are concerned about looks and had the funds, I’d say go with the xd-16 kit. It’s about $70 cheaper now than when I purchased mine!

Innovate Standalone Gauge Kit w\ LC-1 & XD-16 (16 in 1) Digital Gauge DIYAutoTune.com

It’s not simply a gauge only however….and has a built in high/low recall, programmable leds, recalibration function as well as a host of other functions.

If money were not an issue then I would get the PDX system with the LCD screens. Thoes look killer IMHO. The gauge is $200 then another $200 for the wideband :(

I think the AEM is the one I will get though

I run an AEM WB in my Evo.........it has a 5v output so if your tuning software will take a 5v input for wideband it should work.........may need some tweaking or support though not sure. I actually have to use a different cable to connect mine to the laptop but my ECUflash software recognizes the WB. To be completely honest I normally just tune by looking at it with my eyeball. Some things to remember though is you will see a little lag when eyeballing it.

Sniper wont interface with it. Does it come with its own software to data log if hooked to my PC? If it cant do that then I wont get it cause thats the whole purpose of getting it
I was also hesitant about getting an AEM cause they are mostly an import tuner company and it just seems out of place in an American Pony car

You're silly if you think that AEM is an import tuner company. They make great stand alone ECU's regardless of of who they make them for.

Maybe I should take my carbon fiber shift bag and knob out of my GT because imports use CF stuff...........

That was a joke

But does it come with the software to data log it?

And yes, I am silly. You must not be familiar with my work :rlaugh:
