Couple of things wrong here. If you drove it home then checked the plugs, then you wasted your time. The drive home changed the read on the plugs, so you really couldnt tell what they looked like.

If you have 2 cylinders that are at 160, then you are ok. If they are next to each other, I would be nervous (head gasket). Nitrous will find the weak link. 250 is a bit much. What type of internals are you running?

When you do blow it up wed, take it to McMurtry (SP?) automotive right there in gulfport. He does great work.

where did you mess up your compression numbers, here or in the first post (180 vs 160 in post, but you say 30 psi difference now)? i know it is just a typo, but it makes a difference. Hllon, as usual is right on (i would have said what he did).

as Hllon said, how old is the mill and what is in it? do you havecompression numbers from before (something to compare to)?

good luck.

If it is a race motor, then you break it in at the track.

How deep is the knocking sound? A squeaking sound? I think that you are about ready to the pull the heads to check that everything is all right.

Pro stock motors are made with enough clearances so they don't gall together. did you tell your machinist to keep it loose? If you feel unsure take it back apart and make sure. Don't pull the heads, just flip it and inspect the bearings (it'll save you the $75 in head gaskets. If the bearings are fine or you have metal in the oil finish the tear down and get it cleaned and clearanced for the nitrous use.

You F'd up hitting it that hard on the first day. Hopefully it's not terminal. The other thing is, if you can't run a 351 combo on the juice without burning it up, why a 408?

it was set up for a 250 shot..im 30 psi low on 2 cylinders,,might just be a rod bearing and a messed up crank..if so i was just going to get a 408 stroker kit...the 30 psi diff would make it low on com[ression ,,right?????i.ll post a time slip,,the pics on here cant be bigger that 80 kb???i dont know how to shink a pic,,be i can cut the other lane off ,,it might work???

Best rod for the buck IMO. I'll be running same combo as you in about a month, only a HR Comp custom cam. I won't juice it until I can get good passes with just motor.
