#1- I got everything but what I want is to be able to dim the back light of the tach with the dimmer switch in the car. I pulled it but it has about 8 different wires behind it, I'am assuming for all the things it dims. I would like to know WHAT COLOR wire I need to splice into to have the function of dimming my tach's back light. :bang:

2- Where is the ignition wire and what color is it to tap for the tach also. :bang:

92' Coupe

Thanks, Jonas

The Blue wire with the red tracer is the lighting wire, tap into that and it will dim

You can pull a 12v wire from the fuse box or there are a few on the steering column, do you have a Chilton or Haynes with the wire diagrams?

Sweet thanks, yeah I have a Haynes. Any specific ignition wire would be better?

Where is your tach installed? To the right of the instrument cluster? You could just run all the wires to the radio if you wanted. For my guages, I got power from the light behind the AC control panel. It can dim like you want. Then I got power from my radio. It's not hard at all. I am not sure how easily you can run the wiring to the radio from the instrument cluster, since my guages are in the vents. It shouldn't be bad though.

her is a pic of my setup. I have an 86, so it is different than the 87-93 dash. For the dimmer, i think i hooked in the radio harness as well. I just started to probe wires till I found one that would come on with the headlight switch and dim at the same time.

Thanks guys I got it done.

What I was confused about was the ignition wire, I thought it was a special wire that was near the ignition but in reality it was any wire that got power when the key was turned, I = :owned: . I just did the ignition wire to a wire under the column that got power when key was turned. I did the dimmer switch by pulling out the dim panle switch and using the blue wire with red tracer(which someone told me to use) and it works like a charm. Didn't have to take apart the center console which is what I didn't want to do. Now that I look at it, it's really quite simple.
