I think that i found a good deal the car listed above.

My questions:
1) does the motor have notched pistons?
2) what size is the rear: 7.5 or 8.8?
3) What gears are in the rear if its an auto?
4) it has disc brakes, what are needed to convert an 86 to the rears of the mark 7?

thanks for the help.

Hey Nate,

You are wanting to put the Mark VII disc on your 86? That is what I have, along with the same front brakes, whenever you get them put on! I did the modified bracket and am running the Ranger/ Aerostar axles like black306 from Matt's pages to keep the stock track the same: http://home.pacbell.net/black306/tech/reardisc.html

I just saw a Fox Saleen (they came stock with the Mark VII stock length setup) last Sunday, and he had Bullitt wheels on it. Nice, but the tire was just on the edge of the fender flare. It would look better IMO if it were a bit closer in. I may be playing with mine this summer, trying to adjust the brackets again to use the SN95 axles.

Anyway.... that would be a pretty good setup. Let me know if you need any info!

thomas,
thanks for the info. nope, the brakes arent for me, my cousin has an 86 too. he can get the whole car (with cobra intake, 6al box) for like $500ish. body is shot, but he can use the rest.

on our side note: i know i owe ya, but i got laid off. start my new job tommrow or so. Im very sorry. PM me if you need it asap.

1) does the motor have notched pistons?
It has forged pistons with valve reliefs just like the mustang
2) what size is the rear: 7.5 or 8.8?
Its an 8.8
3) What gears are in the rear if its an auto?
Usually 3.27's
4) it has disc brakes, what are needed to convert an 86 to the rears of the mark 7?
http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ has lot of information on disc brake swaps

1.) it has a 302 HO, same as mustangs
2.) has a 8.8
3.) look at riccorizzo's post
4.) trbkrb's post

mark VII's are nice cars, a friend has one it's a converted 5 speed and runs mid 14's in Lincoln luxury.

No problem Nate.... just don't forget lest I have one of my cousins from Jersey pay you a visit to collect! LOL!

$500 is a pretty good deal for a running engine, intake, 8.8 and rear disc.
