Well i bought a beater car to driver around since i dont like driving my stang in the rain and to school. Its a 1981 BMW 528i with 250,000 Miles on it. I took it to the Smog Place and it failed. To Many "Hydrocarbons". So i ask you guys, sinec mustangs owners are the kings of getting around smog stuff, how do i get it to pass. I am gonna get a new Cat but what else besides these....

Spark Plugs
Cap and Rotor
Timming
Cat

Is that good or what else?

my old hyndai failed smog this year and i had to replace the cat and have the intake manifold cleaned and it passed thru alright. i think there is stuff at car supply shops though that you can add to the tank to make it pass smog, i forgot the name of it though. sorry :D

was it just HC? what were the other numbers. it could be either running too lean or too rich. high HCs with high O2 is a lean misfire/lean condition. High HCs and high CO is rich misfire/rich condition. all of the above sound good. also running something like SeaFoam through will help.
