I need to get some new wheels for my 65 coupe and somebody told me to put some 17s on it but I think that would be overkill. I was looking at most everybody else's and they all have 15s and a few 16s. Could you guys show me pics of yours especially if you have some 16-17s on there.

16x7 all around. I also thought 17's were overkill, but I was 18 at the time and cash was a factor, so I went with the 16's. Another chance and I would get 17's cause I'd like a nice big set of brakes among other things, plus they look so damn good too imo.

For me I just think that 16" is the largest that look right on a classic. That's just my opinion and it also is dependant on what look your going for, "classic muscle" or "Detroit lean rollin with the Nelle wheels". I am also in my mid thirties so I am somewhat between the 14" / 15" traditionalists and the young 17" / to who knows how big crowd.

Do I have pictures????

I originally ran the 16's, but switched to 17" for a better fit. 17's actually have more clearance, since the rim lip is above the upper balljoint, permitting you to tuck the wheel/tire under the car a little more.

Oops - my edited post crossed with your response/question. The 17's are on the car right now. I'm running 225/45-17 and 235/45-17, and could actually step up a size (to 235/245), since there's TONS of clearance. The 16's were 205/55-16 & 215/55-16.
The brake package I'm running pushings all 4 wheels "out" 3/8", so the 4.5" backspace 16x8's caused rubbing problems with 225 section tires. The 17's are custom-built with 5-1/8" backspace, so they are tucked under an extra 5/8".

BobV, what a difference in the side by side shots there. I like em both.

Nice wheels burg65. Are those the edelbrock 454's? Not sure what they're called.

Here's some more of mine.

The way I got it.

Thanks, and yes they are. I like the way your car sits, I'd be happy with the 16's if I were you. Love the white/red too!

Thanks man! I dont feel like shelling out 1500 bucks for new wheels right now, so I'm just gonna have to like them lol. I was just thinking about how high the car sits the other day. The suspension is all stock, haven't touched it since I got the car in 2000.
