Like the title says.

I'm buying a '68 but I don't know if the asking price is too high. It's a coupe with front granada discs, negative wedge kit, rebuilt WC T-5 transmission, rebuilt 9" w/3.50 gears, trac loc rear, no rust, straight body and BUT NO ENGINE. It started life as an line six but the current owner has swapped in the V8 suspension and he has now lost interest in the project. I need to know what you guys would pay for a '68 coupe like this? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the car has a nice setup there with the brakes, trans, and rearend. How is the paint and interior. Does it need to be redone?? With those updates already in the car you should put fuel injection into it. Back to the point though, depending on the fine print of what the car needs, sounds like $5000 plus.

Pictures??

The interior needs work, it has 89 GT seats that need to be installed and the dash and carpet need replacing, possibly the headliner too. This type of work I can do so I'm not worried. The paint, well it needs work but with the body being rust free, I think I'm ahead of the game. The reworked suspension and rebuilt tranny is also a plus for me, I hate having to chase parts.

I would be suspicious of a "no engine" sale. Make sure all paper work is okay, and maybe ask for the original engine to match numbers. I'm just naturally suspicious.

Well it was a T code, the original engine was a six cylinder. The owner is/was converting from the 6cyl to a V8. Then I suppose he just changed his mind. By the way, the title is clear not a salvage. It was originally a So. California car then moved to the southwest.

Thanks again.

I paid 1,400$ for a 67 new tires rebuilt tranny rebuilt engine etc. Needed brakes, and interior work. surface rust, but no car cancer. The guy who had it did nothing but engine work and let the rest go. All good though his loss my gain. He bought a new car needed the money, and the car was sitting in his moms yard. Lucky me.

Asking price is $3250 I'm gonna try to get it down to $2500 maybe $2200 we'll see how this goes.

Hey 65Fastback2+2, the paint on the '68 is not as nice as yours but it's definitely acceptable, I think.
