My car now has a street heat intake, as well as the mods in my sig. My first run was a 14.0@101 w/ a 2.4 60', I got it down to a 13.8@101 w/ a 2.1 60'. I'm wondering, if i get some sticky tires, will I see a low 13? Also, I didn't lose trap speed when I cut 3 tenth's off my 60, whats going on there? Also, this is still a stock geared car. Thanks, Will

I know it'll do better, cause I raced an sti, and he ran a 13.6 at 97mph. He destroyed me off the line, but i would catch him past the 1/8th mile. I suppose tires are probably next. A friend said I could use his et streets, but im scared they're gonna hook really well and bog or my clutch is going to slip, lol. Oh well. See ya, Will

Its kind of a myth that you will LOSE trap mph when your 60 ft comes down. The only way that could possibly happen is when you launch the car at the same rpm, the same clutch work and so on. It has to be exactly the same, then yes maybe if you pull a better 60 ur mph will come down.

But, if you go back to the track with some BFG DR's or other tire that will hook very well, and you can launch from ~5k rpms and pull a 1.6-1.7 60 ft, your MPh will come up somewhat, cause your launching the car with its full potential, not some girly 2k rpm launch.

Nice starter runs by the way. Get some sticky tires on there, i see no reason why 13.3-13.5 would not be possible.

The lower the 60', the quicker you accelerate to a given speed. It's like this: when you do gears, they don't add any HP. But you car becomes quicker because they get you into your powerband quicker, and allow you to accelerate quicker. In the 1/4, you don't go any faster (trap speed anyway), you just get to that speed quicker (lower ET). It's the same with crappy and good launches. A crappy launch (like your 2.4) is gonna cause you to accelerate to your 101mph trap speed slower. A good launch (like your 2.1) is gonna allow you to accelerate to your trap speed quicker, meaning a lower ET, but the same trap. :nice:

Thanks for the replies. My brother runs circle track, so he will give me some old hoosier slicks, and I figure since they're free I'll see how they do, lol. Before the intake, it fell on it's face at about 5200, now it's still pulls to around 6, so I'm shifting around 5800-6000. It's still the stock cam, so it probably doesnt have much in it past that. What are you guy's shifting yours at?

i was shifting around 5000 rpms, only managed a 15.2 @ 90mph. friday i will let it go on up to 5800 rpms. does your car have the 2.73 gears (mine does) or the 3.08.

How much does that tank weigh? :D I've gotten better than that with the stocker in my sig, but it only weighs 3270 at the line. My 95 weighed 3580 at the line the last time I ran it. They say a tenth for every 100# of dead weight you lose. With your mods I'm thinking you should be making high 90's even with the 2.73's. Maybe not, I don't know. I put a Pro-5.0 shifter base on last week. Hoping to do a little better just with better shifting. I don't get along very well with the factory shifters :notnice:

Yea, get the circle track tires & you should be 13.5 or better. If you are worried about bogging, don't let as much air out of the tire or run a a little extra so they will have a smaller contact patch & can break loose a little.

You can't use the STI's MPH as an indicator of what your RWD Mustang will do. My close friend has a 2005 STI and runs high 13s at 96-97mph...in a RWD car, 96-97mph is usually mid 14s.

With 101mph, I think you could do mid-13s with great traction. Low 13s are probably just a little out of your reach, unless your car loses ALOT of weight.
