I really hate transmission problems

Well Gentlemen, it is always something! After many moons of the car sitting awaiting this day to leave the garage for the exhaust this problem showed up. First let me say the FMX transmission was rebuilt and the torque converter changed but has been sitting awhile.

I first went and tried to move the car and the transmission was not engaging until I reved it up. Turned it off and added more fluid, now when I put it in gear the car engages but bogs the motor down and stalls. It does this in forward and reverse, is it the stall converter or time to rethink having this boat anchor in my car? :bang:

If it had been sitting a while, could it be an idle problem with the carb? Might have sludge/varnish causing weak fuel delivery. Check the idle in park RPM's. Vacuum leaks? Just what popped in my head.
