I Really Need Some Help PLEASE

I wouldn't, but that is just me. I don't like paying for someone elses work unless it is a complete turnkey ready to drive car. I'm not sure of the value of a '69 coupe but that seems high to me for a car that is still a project.

hard to say. have you inspected it personally? why isn't the original buyer paying? maybe he inspected it and found undisclosed faults? it looks rough, but that could be only because it's primed. I think his horsepower estimation is VERY optimistic, which might indicate that he's exaggerated about other aspects of the car as well.

If the car really is in such good shape, and only needs a paint job, then 6K might not be too bad. But then you'll have to completely disassemble it for painting. In my area, classic Stangs in any condition demand top dollar, so to me, 6K does not seem outrageous.

I am jaded because I paid 4k for mine with good paint, a good engine (302), and a good tranny. But even so, 6k is pretty high to me for a car that's not even painted. I've seen 69 Mach 1s with okay paint go for 8-9k.

So...the car just needs paint?

If it was inspected and everything was there that he said was there and the floor pans and cowl were in good shape, I could see paying $6000 for it. Not site unseen though.

Sight un-seen... NEVER.

Even if the guy is cool on the phone. Peoples opinions are different in regards to condition.

It's tough though I'm sure.... we get all hyped up on new toys... and they don't seem to be getting any cheaper.

He also may be trying to suck you in with a story...

The world isn't as honest as it used to be.

Dude you ruined that car! Where did the pretty red butterflies go ?!?!J/K But I agree. If you look at the engine bay, he re-did the wiring and didn'y even tape or cover the wires running across the shock tower. That's an easy fix, and that may be, as already stated, a clue as to his work.

ya'll people crack me up. Have a lil faith in ur stang knowledge. "I would NEVER buy one sight unseen". Thats kinda hard for me to agree with since I bought my current 67 sight unseen, and I got an easy 7 grand car for 5 grand :-). Ask LOTS of questions, if the guy doesnt know what he is doing it'll show up in his answers. Id say thats a $5500 car SHIPPED. That means its worth about $4800, and someone else already said $4500.

before I bought my 67, there was a guy selling a 68 GT w/almost every GT option for $6K. He was really nice over the phone, explained in detail all the little nitpicky things that were wrong with the car, etc. However, he told me that the underbody was in great shape for its age, and that it was overall a solid car with some body rust. Well, I drove three hours to see this car, and the frame was in horrible shape. I don't think the guy was necessarily a lying POS, because he was pretty accurate about the other flaws, rather that he felt that the general conditiont was "in great shape for its age." Also, the guy seemed to really like the car, and was likely blind to its flaws.

Glad I amuse you. It doesn't matter how much you know about Stangs...as long as the seller knows a little bit about Stangs himself, he can tell you whatever he wants and make you believe it.

I have bought 3 69 Dodge Chargers, a 67 Mustang Fastback w/a 390, and a 68 Mustang Convertible w/a 289 via Ebay. The 67 FB and one of the chargers were NOT what they were represented to be. The others were. Luck of the draw.

I agree with Snail. If ya by a 30+ year old car site unseen, your playing with fire. I purchased a '65 Fastback via E-bay a few years back. The PO agreed to "escrow" the money and title until I inspected the car, (I had it shipped). If I was unhappy with the car, I could send it back. All worked out well.
My current car, 1966 Hertz clone, was purchased in Texas. (I live in Kentucky) I flew down to check it out after a few calls to the owner. I am much happier with the last buying experience AND the car.
