I think I know whay my car was running hot.

This weekend when i was installing my water temp and oil press gauges I took the water neck off to tap it and saw a piece of brass coming out of the hole that connects to the water pump. I was like WTF. I took the thermostat off and ht was completely broken. All of the pieces were there so nothing went in the system. I changed it out and it hasent got hot since.

Ha, that's funny. I've had a t-stat or two come out in pieces also.

Nice eye to pick that up and get it fixed. Next time you order parts, perhaps pick up a Mr Gasket (or Robert Shaw or other balanced, performance stat) to have on hand for next time you have the stat housing off.

hey The Green GT and HISSIN50 do ya'll recall or identified the namebrand of these thermostats that have broken as ya'll stated above or is any thermostat subject to break under certain conditions....

The last one I had come apart was OEM.
