I think my water temp guage is off...going to 270*!

If the coolant is down 10-12 inches then I would fill it back up to the top. Drain the overflow tank to where its 1/3 full. Crank the car up and let it sit till the thermostat opens, if everything is the same then, take the car for a little drive. DO NOT go far, just down the road and turn around and come back. Let the car cool down and open the cap and see if the radiator is still full. If it gets to the "R" in Normal by the stock gauge, I would pull over and allow it to cool down, even though its a stock gauge you still dont want to take a chance over something that could have been prevented.

Doesn't the car shut itself down at 270 to protect itself from destruction?
ive never known of any 'shut down' temp. numbers i do know are ~226* is when timing is pulled. a/c gets killed at about 242* (or something close).

i was just asking cuz i dont think it is even realistically possible for TU to be runnin so hot. but im shootin in the dark here too.

the system is all bled right?
oh yeah, my first post probably came off like 2000's, though i did not intend it to be (i did not even read his first reply. LOL). i just cruised down to the bottom posts to see what issues were being kicked around. good luck.
