I thought I understood exhaust, but I guess I am retarded...

Ok so here is the deal, I bought my stang like 6 months ago, and it had a flowmaster exhaust kit on it. Now I want to install a MagnaFlow X-Pipe, and I need to know a couple of things...

First off, will I need any other parts to install this? Do I use my flowmaster mufflers? Will this fit on my stock headers? Will I see a major difference in performance and or sound?

Secondly, how hard is it to do this installation yourself? I am no gear head, but I am not stupid with tools either. Do I need to weld anything together? Please any enlightenment would be great since I am kinda confused...I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, and apparently I need a little/lot of guidance. Thanks a lot fellow stangers....

Oh btw, if there is another x pipe that you would recommend thats cheaper and would fit my stock headers, please let me know. Thanks....

Any time you mix and match exhaust parts (sometimes you have no choice) there's a possiblity that it will not "bolt up". In theory the cat back is a simple replacement so everything should be in the factory location. The x pipe is also a replacement of a factory piece leading me to believe that it should bolt up to the flowmaster cat back. There should be no welding involved and in terms of difficulty of install it's not very hard at all. An impact gun, impact sockets, and a bunch of extensions will make the job cake although it can be done with hand tools as well. Try to spray the O2 sensor threads with WD-40 or rust eater of some sort and let it sit a while to make removal of those easier. Good luck.
