I want MAXIMUM POWER!!!!

Huh? I have no idea what you are trying to say but if the car is bucking a little in the lower RPM's its due to reversion typically. Some of it can be tuned out, but usually a step up in gear ratio is the fix so that you are above the rpm's where it occurs when driving on the highway, etc.

You should have come to carlisle. I've seen all your threads on how much you don't like your current combo's street manners and I just wish you could ride in my car once. It doesn't buck EVER. I can lug around in 5th gear at 25-30mph at or below 1000rpms with no trouble. The drivetrain is a little "tingy" at that point with the TKO and aluminum driveshaft but that's it. Once I get my idle surge cured (I haven't messed with it in a LONG time and I think I have a faulty IAC) the car will be a rock solid, no downfall, street car.

Edit- if the weather is nice this weekend I'm going to take a video of my car and how it behave at these low RPM's just to show you what I mean. I'll post it here when I do.

Your post ought to be a sticky. Too many of us (myself at the top of the list) can get sucked into wanting to have the ultimate track warrior and/or bench-racing bragging rights in the car we want to have fun with.

The only thing that's stopped me from already doing a stroked 351/HCI swap on my 95 is that I'm too busy trying to find time to work on the 67. But reading your recent posts has reminded me that my tame little stock block with the 3.73s has kept me in front of 95% of the Taurus's and C1500 4x4s at the stop lights in Anchorage, and I'm not sure exactly where the local track IS. And as far as bragging goes, I just imply that although I don't really know, it's gotta be a HUGE HP/torque monster, and I haven't found a local dyno that reads that high (because I haven't found a local dyno)...

Build a car that's fun. That's what I'm after. Thanks for helping me remember that.

Best way to keep street manners and have a fast high horsepower car is FI. Turbos setup right and tuned properly will be like driving a stock car until you hit the gas :)

Basically true or go real high on the C.I. I decided to go big c.i. and will be happy when I am finished. The car will be dependable with good all around power. Any combo can be taken too far.

This is why I always tell people to figure out what you want out of the car before you go spending money. It helps save money that you don't have to spend twice and it allows you to get to your goal the best way hopefully. Example...

"Hmmmm I'd really like a mid 10 second car, but I have to stay with good gas mileage because this is my street car"

Well this rules out a N/A 302-357cid combo. This person would be better off with a Dart block 306-331 with a medium size turbo on it. The cam would be very mild and you would be able to run 3.27-3.55 rear gears which would help with gas mileage. Also another option would be a mild 331-347 combo with nitrous and 3.55 gears. Or you could go big cubic inches 393+ out of a roller 351 block and either get big heads and intake and a little cam or a mild setup with alittle bit of nitrous.

When you come into the unhappy situations is when someone starts out with something and then keep changing their minds on what to do. You get too caught up in the "ooo I can do this and make it alittle faster." things. I am guilty of this and alot of others are. This is why most of us give advice that we hope people will take because we have been there and done that and we are just trying to keep someone else from making our mistakes.
