In the garage
So after seeing his beautiful T Top, I decided I need a new daily driver.. I saw both of these two cars today. give me your thoughts on each

the first one is a maroon 88 T Top Gt Speed Density- asking $7100
Pros
2 owner florida local car- adult owned and garaged
No rust
clean and unmolested
Solid and clean floor pans
Torque boxes solid,
well documented
Owner not mechanically inclined- this is his weekend show car
Has GT40 intake and heads
111k miles
AOD- just rebuilt
Flowmasters
full power
Ice Cold AC 134
Newer paint-one area on the hatch with some bubbles
new 1/4 windows
nice expensive stereo
newer flowmasters
Still has complete smog - untouched
The owner takes it to a shop that a buddy of mine owns- he says the owner doesnt cut corners and is a solid car. He is moivated to sell as he is restoring a 56 Ford
ROH old school rims and newer tires

Cons
porno red interior- but perfect
ashtray door broken
power window goes down clunkly
fuse cover missing
fog lights not working
small rust bubble area on hatch
Temp gauge not working
small oil leak- looks like oil drain plug
PS leak- he overfilled the pump so it could be that and a combination of a line which is common
started up car and for first minute or so the oil pressure gauge fluctuated- eventuallly was steady

Cons

I was all for the '87 until I saw the 86. Different wheels, and I'd be all over that.

However...aero T-top cars are unique, especially a late '88 with the hockey stick mirrors

I'd be torn between the 4-eye or the red interior, as I love both (I know, I'm weird, I also like Mustang IIs, we've established how weird I am).

I'd probably go with the 4-eye because that's my second-favorite fox interior, and the rest of the car is more my style. What concerns me about both is "just rebuilt" AOD transmissions. If they weren't done by a good shop there may be trouble there in the near future, combined with the fact that I find Mustangs with automatics auto-tragic (in spite of my II having a C4... we did establish that I was weird earlier... and that C4 hasn't shifted a gear on it's own in a long time with the manual valvebody and Hurst shifter).

Yeah, definitely the 4-eye. I'd have to change the taillights and the Vanilla-Ice-era wheels on the red car almost immediately to live with myself, where as the 4-eye is where I could immediately put money into improving or repairing the car.

hmmmm.. choices

I like the 88 because it has GT40 intake , heads, better brakes, etc
but the 86 is so clean and love draglites
both will need a little TLC

So far it is 5 to 2 in favor of the 86
