i have a jegs stock shortblock with about 5500 miles on it. some ported E7s with all the goodies, an E-cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock performer RPM intake and a holley 600 DP. BBK shortie equal lengths and BBK O/R x-pipe. MSD box, dizzy, and coil. and i also have an edelbrock wet nitrous system at a 75 shot.
the best i could do at the track was a 13.03 at 106mph (without the spray....no blow down tube)

desktop dyno says i should be making about 350 hp around 5500 rpm. and about 420 with the shot. it feels a bit less than that.

im going to have about $4500 to spend. i want a HCI combo that will be good for the street and still perform at the track and be able to take a 50-75 shot with no problems.

420 with the shot should get you well into the 12's My question would be what kind of suspension and tires are you running sometimes you just need a better suspension setup to get you et's down. What kind of et's are you looking for?

southside upper and lower control arms, not sure what springs but the passenger rear has an airbag. spindles are off a 92 again not sure what springs the car came with. i had M/T 10.5 sportmans when i got the 13.03. i want to get into the low 12s. im sure the 75 shot will get me past the 12.99 mark but i dont know by how much.

either way i want to get some better heads for sure and a stouter cam.

1.810 intake 1.455 exhaust
you can take a look at the exhaust ports there opened up pretty good, the intake ports have only been smoothed out.

1.81"? you sure that's not 1.84" (351W)?

Honestly, I don't think 450 N/A is gonna happen with stock heads...even if they're hogged with 1.94" and 1.60" valves (which is as big as you can get from stockers)

You'll still need more compression-somewhere in the 10.5:1 or more-to make that power...you also need more cam timing, probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 300* total, 240*+ @0.050 and lots of lift-THINK SOLID ROLLER!

...of course with that kind of setup, it'll end up making max power somewhere in the 6600-7200 rpm range, better have the bottom end put together well to handle the beating

I've got a set of 289 closed chamber heads that have been cut for big valves, and ported and polished on a flat top 302 in my garage, with an F-cam. Even with the 10.3:1 cr with the 54cc chambers, I'm not even thinking of making anymore than 325 N/A

Plain and simple.. you're not gunna make 450 hp on a stock shortblock. With 302 cubic inches, you'll need some yates style heads, a dart block, billet rods, crank, and 10,000 RPM with a huge solid roller cam. Doing this would cost you a loooooot more then just putting a 150 shot on your car now and make 400 rwhp... right at your 450 fwhp you're looking for. Just an idea...
