Well after I finally have all the parts to build up a built nicely running 3.3L I6 for my 91 Mustang convertible now my friend wants to give me a 88 2.3L turbo motor with a blown head gasket.

The motor is complete with everything still on it and I will get a LA3 computer with it.

The convertible is a 91 2.3L EFI dual plug motor with a T5 and 3.73 single track 7.5" rear.

Hes thinking all we will need to do is throw a new head gasket on the 88 motor and it should be good to go.

If I decide to do this how much money should I need and how long will this take?

Anything in paticular I need to watch out for?

We have both printed off Stingers swap guide and been studying it.

hmmm, I doubt it'll cost much if anything extra. Maybe you'll find a hose or belt that you'll want to replace, but otherwise it is drop in. Just make sure you get the air meter and injectors with the LA3.
You should also be able to do it in a weekend, but add time if you start modding. Might take 2 weekends if you take it easy.

The key is to have a little help even if neither of you have done it before. Having extra hands to lift, pry etc. are always good. I can take a turbo swap from running N/A to running turbo in about 4.5 hours by myself. If you've got a little help you should be able to get it done in a weekend.

I would take one weekend to get the turbo motor ready to set in. Fix the HG and check to make sure the valves aren't leaking. Which is a problem stinger and I have run into more than once.

The wiring is the intimidating part. Just read the directions and use the internet if you hit a snag somewhere.
