After installing c&l plenum and bbk throttle body my rpms hang at 1500 and then drop to idle speed, I have heard a few people talking about this problem and there hasnt been a way to fix it(that I know of at least)... when I unplug the IAC and manually set the idle it runs fine. My question is is there any downsides to doing this (performance.engine damage. gas milelage etc.)?

The IAC is only active durring idle and off-idle so there isn't any problems to worry about, maybe a little more pollution... I have switched back and forth 3 times and currently just run with it unpluged. THE only downside I can see is when the A/C kicks in (which it does with the heat in the defrost position also) that tries to stall the car because the IAC isn't there to compensate.
But I am happy with it unpluged, I like the RPM's to drop quickly that's why mine is unplugged

mine did that and it turned out the iac was sticking open. i got a new one for $50 at autozone and it took 5 minutes to install it. problem fixed.

yours may not be sticking, because i'm sure you have fewer miles on your car than mine, but it's probably a vacuum leak in the tb or iac. with the engine running, spray carb cleaner at the different gasgets. if the idle changes when you hit a certain gasget, there is your leak. good luck.

Ya thats one thing I was worried about the ac and rpms not adjusting for it.. Does it ever stall or just seems like its goin to?
after my iac was stuck open for a while, it started getting stuck closed. then when it was cold, it did stall sometime. costs $50 for a new one at autozone. just replace it -- 5 minutes.

car only has 4600 miles on it I dont think it could be broke.. ive tried to clean it, and that didnt work. I will try the carb cleaner and see if that works.. if not I will just leave it unplugged. The fast rpms drop is nice
