IAT intake chip

Im not a particularly big believer, but I just thought I would see if anybody has had any experience with these things.

I actually bought that exact item, mainly because I only paid a hair over $5 for it including shipping. Just thought that it would be neat to see for myself.

Just looking for some of your guys experiences with this or similar chips.

I bought one when I was **** faced one night.

I think I threw it away or something.

My buddy said it would work. I knew it wouldnt do anything, I just wanted to prove my buddy wrong. Which I did.

And all it is a little resistor. You ca get them for like $.10 at Radio Shack.

James, I'd delete the link and just describe the item. They're uptight about ebay links on threads.

It very well might be a resistor for the IAT. Joe, I and a couple of other guys have played around with this idea in the past (using 15 cent resistors from Radio Shack). I would not bother unless you're having some real strange issues or have an AODE.

Good luck.

Speaking of this very thing :D

Joe & JT were having a good discussion about this on a recent thread :)

It just kinda fell on down in the pile of threads :(

JT ... did you or Joe come to any conclusions

Grady

Grady, I've been afraid to talk about the IAT thing much since what was happening for Joe and I was counterintuitive to what should have been happening.

The car indeed ran better and was less prone to detonation with the puter thinking I was seeing room temperature intake air (when in fact, my IAT temps were getting upwards of 200*F). I still think the IAT has some effect on the AODE performance but I obviously am not into the EEC speak enough to have a clue. I can only go with what I observe and feel. So I just tinker around with it.

For James, we should remind him of what Grady pointed out before. :nice: The IAT starts pulling timing around 206*F (if that sounds right Grady). So when I was fooling the computer, I was running with *more* timing than when I had the IAT installed. Again, I should have been more prone to pinging, not less. That's the counterintuitive aspect to me.

I've been meaning to chat with Joe and see how he's been making out. For a stick driver, Justin (Badstang) tried running a resistor IIRC. I know we chatted about it a bit a summer or two ago. MLC also had some very good input.
Thanks for asking Mr Grady. :nice:

As Hissin stated, I did mess around with the resistors a little bit. But in reality...I still haven't formed an opinion on how I feel about using them yet  There's a difference, and it isn't bad, I just don't really know if it's all that great either though. I'd mess around with it some more but I have other issues to resolve with the car at the moment :nonono:
