Idle Adjustment

If idle is 800-900, then you don't need to change anything, idle adjust only if idle is out of character by surging, hanging or stalling. Pullies should NOT affect idle at all. Try the install first then if idle needs correcting for what ever reason then check out the idle set proceedure found in the tech section at Corral.net

DON'T mess with the set screw unless you have too....many many many new idle problems resulted from people playing with the idle and taking sometimes weeks before they get it right again. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks guys for your advise!

JB66,

I have an 87 hatchback automatic I'm restoring. So far I've completely changed over the interior to black out of 90-93 models. Up to this point my main focus has been interior upgrades and some body work. I will post some pictures as soon as I get everything back together.

As for mechanical improvements, I've changed over to the MSD blaster ignition coil and 6A controller, 9mm FR wires, BBK UD pullies, X pipe, flowmasters, BBK headers, new IAC, plugs, oil change, fuel filter, shock brace, MM strut tower brace and MM K member brace and new tie rod connectors.

Nothing too extensive yet but I'm interested in changing the heads, intake setup and thottle body this Summer. I'm also switching the rear gear to 3.73's and looking to upgrade to an aluminum radiator, electric fan, high flow water pump, aluminum drive shaft and either a PA or Lentech automatic.

Is anyone here with an automatic running with the 4.10 gear? I was told not to go with 4.10's with an automatic because I wouldn't be able to cruise past 100MPH. Is this ture?
