Idle ,Go ,Die

Hey guys Got a strange problem. I fire up the old 5.0 , It Idles a little high and surges alittle bit ,but runs so i go to take off and I can move about 10 feet then it slowly dies. anyone had a problem like that?
A test i tried was slowly pushing the gas don all the way and it gets to about 3500 then the airbag light falshes and it wont go any higher.
