As long as the single port to the EGR solenoid is capped, that's all that needs to be done. The actual EGR passageway in the head is under positive pressure, so it's not a vac leak.

I think code 14 and 29 are your top suspects for the issues oyu are having, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to smoke test the system for vac leaks.
