Idle question (i know diff. variation of this q have been asked)

Like mentioned above, if the smog equipment has been deleted from the car then you can remove the TAD/TAB solenoids. The larger round solenoid is for the EGR if that's been removed then might as well yank that as well.

My smog pump was deleted on my car sometime in the past. The previous owner left some of the piping and vacuum lines though. So I removed all the unnecessary stuff to clean it up, but I left the TAD/TAB. My understanding is that removing them will set a internal code in the computer.

As for the hot start surging issue, my car has been struggling with the exact thing. Surging idle check list, yep done it.
Added a Cobra intake. Still did it.
Added AFR heads and Com XE264 cam. Yep still did it. Even worse now.

Resetting the base idle helped some, but just today I swapped the auto parts store IAC for a Motorcraft one and it made huge improvement. My surge is 75% improved and more than livable now. My theory is that the junk auto parts store IAC is not accurate enough nor able to react fast enough to accurately get the idle under control in a hot start situation and thus makes the problem worse.

This is correct but doesn't cause a CEL and doesn't effect performance. Pretty much the same as having the smog pump deleted. No CEL but an internal code stored.
