Idle/stall problems when hot

I have a '69 Mach 1 with a 351W and a C6. The car works fine when cold and as it's warming up. It idles fine both with and without a/c.

When the engine's hot (2/3 of the way from C to H) though the idle quality starts going bad. It starts stalling when I switch the a/c on. When it's really hot, it'll stall even without the a/c on.

Any idea what's going on??

Could be many things. Vapor lock or the alternator not putting out enough juice are two things that come to mind. How old is the gas in the tank?

Gas is a couple weeks old. A mechanic friend of mine also thinks the alternator is not putting out enough juice. It's a junkyard find. Something like 90 amperes.

If I were to replace the alternator, what should I go with and where should I get it??

Go invest in a new replacement from your local parts house. Buying junkyard and reman alternators is always a crap shoot.

I live overseas so, unfortunately, no Autozone or any other new parts house locally for me. I'll have to get the alternator online.

Any recommendations on what kind (3G? Powermaster?) and where to get it??
