Idling low then dying randomly

my 95 GT 5spd with only 46k miles on it has acted up a bit lately..

it's completely stock btw..

i was waiting in line at a car wash, and had turned off my car while i waited. after about 10 mins, i started it back up, and pulled forward, entered my code, and turned the car off again. waited another 5-10 mins, then started it back up when it was finally my turn to go in.

this time, the car idled really low, then died as i was trying to put it in gear. started back up, and it died while still in neutral. i finally got it to go forward by revving it really high before it had a chance to die (like 2-3k rpm).

after the wash i started it back up and went on my way no problems. i also drove about 150 miles the next day with absolutely no troubles at all.

the only problem with the car atm is the clutch pedal. it is VERY stiff. i have read about cable binding and routing problems. is there a chance that the pedal was causing the idling and dying problems?

sorry for the long post.. thanks.!

welcome to the boards. you will notice that there is a 94-95 sub forum - those guys are up on the ideosynchratic stuff with the SN's.

if the car only did this once, i would not read much into it. with a few cars of mine, ive noticed that if they are hot, shut off, started back up within a few mins, they idle funky (idle low). if i hold the gas for a few seconds, they pick up. or i just drive off.
i think i would go insane trying to track down suck an intermittant issue, so i prefer to deal with it.

you could pull codes and see if one was tossed (some codes, esp intermittant ones, can be stored w/o setting the CEL). sometime, you might want to clean your EGR valve - if it stuck at idle, it would degrade the idle or kill the car. a lot of SN guys have ditched it (or moved it and fixed the pintle in the bore).

random thoughts. good luck.
