If a Rich Mixture smells like gas, what does a lean mixture smell like?

I have a AFPR on my car, and 24# injectors. I had it set to 42# when i had stock injectors, after I upgraded, I turned it down a little without a gauge (I know ) and my exhaust no longer smells strongly of gasoline. But more of like a soft, candy smell or something, it's hard to describe....

My brothers 2.3T smells the same way (only stronger) after he comes out of boost, his blow off valve releases metered air into the atmosphere (which will be fixed very soon with other mods). So his car would be really rich, but doesn't smell like it.

I notice it most when I get out of the car after driving. Am I smelling a lean mixture?

the only way i can describe it is wierd. hot candy describes it well

oh, check the plugs, if it is running so lean that you can smell you could probably see the plugs burning white...

a lean would smell caustic and burn your eyes. Sounds like your running OK to me.
Do you have cats?

lean smells 'hot' and like melting metal.

i have this problem of my house smelling like purple and my cars in the shop ....sometimes my car wont even be runing and it smells like purple...lol
