If not a Mustang, then what?

If no Mustang...

Other than pumping some repair money into my '98 Jetta TDI(has been parked since Nov '06)and ride my '00 Suzuki Bandit 1200S...I would build this little gem of a car right here...Factory Five kit car. I will build this sometime in the distant future! Can be done for around $20K. And I WON'T be afraid to drive it around on public roads!!!!!

It took me a half hour to think about this and still no decision. Perish the thought. An XK8 would be nice but it looks like a Taurus and means I would have to mortgage the house ($90k after you're done). If I bought an old E type, I would need two. I cannot get in and out of a Miata. Z4s are just plain fugly. 60s muscle cars are nice but I'm spoiled by the creature comforts of present.

I too, like RWD.

I could have kept the 01 Cobra and stuck an automatic into it. My back hurts like all *^%#@!?. Put quieter mufflers on it because I want to hear the radio. Put the old suspension back to stock. Ford lowering kit was so bone jarring it pi55ed me off everytime I hit a bump. I know, you're all laughing but I don't care.

I'd perhaps look at a 3 series Bimmer, a Lincoln MKZ, or a Ford Edge. That's departing quite a bit. Cadillac CTS but I'm really spoiled by an 8. I learned to drive on a '73 Impala 400. Also, I'm soured on GM because of quality (sorry Jennifer) but It was an '82 2.5 litre Firebird so maybe it doesn't count.

Okay, I need to :Zip2:

Nite all.

It would seem to me like this wouldn't be an issue. I mean you're probaly a Mustang or at least a Ford enthusist if your even on this board. So I would think most people would probaly have bought a used SN95 or older style Stang.

As for me I rarely ever buy a new vehicle...exspecaily a new body style or new generation ECM or motor etc. In the Spring of 2001 my wife gave birth to our son Rhett. I needed something practical instead of a Stang. So what better vehicle to bus my son around in than an 03' Harley edition F150 4dr truck :) It's not a stang but it's easier to install a car seat than a 2dr car. Just recently I disided to pick up a weekend car instead of modding my daily driver. This time around I chose an 87' T-type Regal instead of a Ford.

I still drive what I used to, my Mer/Benz, I just wouldn't have my garage ornament. It I had to buy another vehicle and the 197 wasn't around it probably would have been an H1 or H2 HumVee. I've owened Vettes all my life from Pro Street to stock, and as the song goes " The Thrill Is Gone ". besides it seems for some strange reason the 197 is more a girl magnet than any of my Vettes ever were. If I had only known, oh well better late than never.

I was never a Ford fan, in fact, I was GM all the way. I drive an 05 GMC 2500 for work. When I got to the position in life where I could afford expensive toys, I started looking at old cars. But then I saw the 05 Mustangs come out, and though it took me 2 years, I just had to have one. It looks like a classic muscle car, but has today's technology. The best of both worlds. I haven't seen a car I really liked in over 20 years. The new Challengers look interesting, but the Camaros are ugly as sin, looks nothing like the old ones (IMO)

Well..... since some of us are getting a little off the budget numbers, I guess if I had $80,000 I would pick up this little number in White.

Unfortunately, the 722 is a little out of my price range. :nonono:
