First off this is a newly-built engine with boost in mind so:

First off is the distributor, I need a new one sometime down the road. The cam-drive tooth is looking rather rough, the shaft has some wobble to it so the bushings are about shot, and it has a few other issues, so what's a decent one from experience? Summit has a decent one: MSD-8456 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D8456&N=4294925143+4294908331+4294840126+4294925008+4294881256+115&autoview=sku
I thought I saw somewhere that it is no better than stock, but how do I know? I am not looking for an overpriced, renamed stock component, so ideas are very welcome (i'de like to stick with the MSD and Crane names for reputation). Also what kinds of pick-ups and advance styles should I be looking at?

Ignitions, been looking at the Crane HI-6R and I like the features, but does it perform well and would it be able to hook up with the previously mentioned distributor or would just about any other ones work? Same goes for the MSD ignition boxes, yet they have so much crap out there that it seems rather difficult to really pick up a basic unit (mostly due to their basic boxes + all the add-on boxes for them).

So all-in-all, what features should I be looking at, what would "eventually" handle the compression forces of 8-10 psi of boost, what brands AND models has everyone had good fortune with, ect..........above all else, most importantly I need an idea as to what distributor for right now.

I appreciate all feedback, Matt

Keep the stock dist it works very well if it is in good shape, actaully seen more power on the dyno over a few of the popular other models.

I also like the Digital 6+ since it has a lot of nice features all in one box, if you want better then that look at the Digital 7 Programmable. Use the proper coil, good wires and you'll be fine.

My stock distrubutor has seen better days. So are you telling me to just go out and buy a new stock distributor over the MSD or Crane (with relation to the fact of a replacement being bought in the first place)?
