Alright... this is driving me crazy... appanatly the ignition key junk is all busted up. I can pull the key out before putting it into the off position. Because of this it just sits there and chimes like I left the headlights on. The plastic around the outside also spins freely.

How can I fix this?

i have the same problem with mine, the plastic thing moves sometimes an the key wont go all the way in because its crooked so i have to straighten it out to start the car. it only happens like once in a while though

i have that too, but i like it, it makes it easy to leave the car on take the keys out arm the alarm and let the car heat up or run back to the house stuff liek that. also it makes good fun to scare the crap out of ppl by handing them ur keys on the interstate. :D

When I first got my car it did that. I went to the Ford place and bought all matching locks and ignition stuff and replaced all of them. It was real easy to do with my Chiltons manual. I think it cost me like $106 for all the parts. They covered even the glove box and trunk.

I think it's just a Ford thing. My Mustang doesn't do it yet, but our 1995 Ford Windstar has had that problem for a few years now. The ignition looks the same as the 'stangs. Also a friend of mine has an 89 Probe GT and whenever he floors it and the turbo spools up the keys hit him in the chest from acceleration lol. I asked a ford dealer about our van's problem and they said i could order the parts to replace. That's what I'd do if I were you.
