Gentlemen, got a call from wife saying ignition is on and won't turn off. But, mainly the ignition won't go to start. Key switch is really loose and turns way past start. Naturally she is in Houston and I am west of Austin.

Sounds to me like the ignition switch self distructed. Does this sound like that's the problem? Can a locksmith guy take care of this or do I need someone more experienced. If any of you guys know of someone in the Humble, TX area that can handle this let me know. I'm moving back to this area and don't know any good mechanics anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

If the ignition cylinder is so sloppy loose in the steering column that it turns past start and the key can not be removed, likely the cylinder is damaged.

Has someone tried to break into your car?

If my Wife was stranded in a different city, I would call a local locksmith. They will have all of the tools needed to fix this. They make house calls as well.

Just to try something, push the cylinder in while turning.

Good luck.

No one tried to break in. She drove to church and it wouldn't start when she got back. She can get the key out just fine.

Lonestar COMPLETELY off topic but I love the area where you live.. If I had a choice where to live it would be right on horseshoe bay. I live a little further southwest of where you are. GL with the problem with the stang.

Yeah, it's a great place, but we aren't making enough money here now. Still have a house on Slick Rock and a lot on Ram Rock so we will be back. Gotta get back to the flat land for a while.
