I have a '93 2.3L Mustang w/ DIS Ignition. About a month ago I was leaving my house, when I got about a couple of miles away from the house my car start cuttin' out really bad (I was cruising at about 45mph when this started happening). So I let off the gas for a second and got back in it, then it still cuts out for a few seconds and then it finally picks up. Then I turned the car around to go back home and the car still keeps doing the same stuff on the way home (cutting out for a few seconds, then picking back up). The next day I took it to Autozone to have the codes checked. The codes I think they got were: 223 Distributorless Ignition system - loss of dual plug inhibit (DPI) control, 224 Erratic IDM input to processor (they told me that I probaly needed a new computer). Also, when I drove the car to Autozone It didn't act up at all. I check all the electrical connections and none of those were lose. I know it's not the fuel pump because I replaced it about 4 months ago. Oh, Forgot to mention that after I replaced the fuel pump the car started idling rough (tach say's it's idling at about 400rpm's) after a couple of day's driving it. The car also gets poor gas mileage (alway's has) and has a slight miss and the "check engine" light has been on since I've had it. What could be the problem? Sorry for such a long post and thank's for any help.

I had the same problem with my 92. I think all you need to do is replace the ignition module that is located on the side of the lower intake. Its flat, light gray and has two plugs on the top and bottom. Just get a new one from AutoZone it will cost about 120 I think. Hope this helps

Thank's for the reply. I had the Ignition Module checked at Autozone and they said it was good. They even checked 4 or 5 times to make sure. I guess I'll go ahead and replace it to see if that cure's the rough idle and crappy gas mileage. I don't know if it will fix the "cutting out" part, because it's only done it one more time since I've been driving it.
