ok you guys that are running higher HP i need some advise. this is my MUSTANG DYNO sheet, now i made alright power Clicky for my mods now what happened was you could heear kinda of a "burp" (as the guy at the dyno put it) don't know a good word for it i guess you kinda had to hear it. and when i am at higher rpms (4800) it kinda feels like its loosing power. he said its a problem with my ignition when he was looking over all the spark charts that we logged. i am gonna re-check the gap on my plugs, but have a feeling i am gonna have to upgrade to a better ignition setup. my question is what do you guys think by looking at this graph it could be? also how much HP is the stock dizzy good for? i am looking at the MSD boxes but don't really know what to get, as i am planning on going forced induction in the future (maybe turbo...maybe supercharger, i am still walking the fence) do you think i am gonna have to upgrade the dizzy and get a box or will just the box be alright, i already have the blaster coil. i don't wanna get the box and go back to the dyno, pay X amount of dollars to get another run on the dyno only to find out my dizzy needs to be replaced too.

sorry for the long post but i am just trying to figure out what i should do

final pull after A/F and spark advance was tuned in

Well msd boxes are great and all with your setup i dont think it would be necessary. I personaly run a 6A box and love it. The 6AL is a upgraded box from that and works really well too.

How did the guy know it was ignition related and not fuel related did he have a scope hooked up?

Your description is very vague is hard to tell you anything if you can give me more info that would be great.

in looking in his graphs he said it was a spark problem, it was on a mustang dyno and then he pulled up a bunch of tables and charts and told me he thought it was spark case there was a spike in the ignition system

Hey bud. I would have thought the stocker would have been good for those numbers too. in dyno stuff i have seen, it seems like the stock ignition can take up to around 375-400 HP N/A.

but if you plan on going forced induction anyhow, a box (at a min) is a good idea, i think (dont ask me about dizzies) :) . dont forget about Crane's ignitions - nicely priced boxes if you ask me. it has been some time since i read the features of each though.

i bet Rick will be able to chime in here (amongst others).

good luck with it and congrats!

With out the charts and graph i cant tell you what happen. Can you duplicate this concern on the street? It would be nice if you could get those charts that the guy is refuring too. If you could get those then i could help you out alot more.

i guess i could try and see if i can get those off him if he still has them. i can tell at the top of the rpms it kinda hesitates and the tach kinda jumps (aftermarket tach not the stock one) he calsulated out that its about 350 HP roughly at the crank right now. i always thought the stock dizzies could take a lot more HP than that
