Ignition Switch Replacement Link

This is quick and easy to do.

Disconnect the battery.
Once you have disconnected the battery put your key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the run position.
There is a small hole directly under the ignition switch (I'm not talking about the holes for the screws that hold the steering column cover on) Using a 1/8 center punch insert it in the hole and push up, while pushing up with the center punch gently pull out on the ignition switch and it should pop right out.

To install the new ignition switch pull off the protective cover, put the key in the new ignition and turn it to the run position. Once you have it in the run position you will be able to depress the small locking pin. Insert it in the steering column and turn it to the off position which will reset the locking pin.

If you have a good ford dealer around you can ask them to rework the new key so it will open your door and operate the ignition so you don't have to carry the old key and the new key.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any questions.

does anyone know how to re-work it so that you use a push button to start it, kinda like the viper, where u use the key and pu tit in the one then push a button to start it?
