Ignition switch...

Replacing the ignition switch, no biggie. But I can't even get the lower plastic cover, under the dash, off. I removed the 3 bolts but it didn't move much after that. What am I missing? Are there any other bolts to remove? Or do I just need to get tougher with it. Thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the anti-submarine panel cover, if so it has two screws and then clips, just pull on it real good from the top side.

Is it this piece?

the newer the car, the stuff is not screwed in. If you cant see any more screws just yank really hard, if you end up breaking somethng you always have duct tape, and it even comes in, mustang interior grey

It's a 92 and I don't see any more screws so I'm going to crank on it. Plasma cutter is the back up plan and duct tape...well my car is black on black so I'll have to Sharpie the duct tape. Whatever it takes though. Thanks!

Besides the 3 bolts you already removed, the part is just held by 2 clips i think. Just pull it a bit but be careful, AZ cars tend to have brittle interior plastics.

BTW, what's the use for this black metallic part?

it is to keep you from going under the dash in the event of a crash
