Igniton question

I was messing with my spark plug wires today, and I noticed that when I pull numbers 1,4,6 or 7 (one at a time) there is very little change in the idle of the car. However when I pull 2,3,5 or 8 the idle is very rough. Is this normal? When I pulled the #1 spark plug, it appeared very rich. I pulled the #4, and it looked great. Just wondering.

maybe some of your plugs arent firing due to oil fouling? Did you check to see if spark is jumping out of the wire when you pull it off the plug?

I think I may have figured it out. I'm pretty sure that the drivers side of my carb feeds cylinders 1,4,6 and 7. (Performer 289 intake) I must have the idle mixture screwed up on that side. It must need to be leaned out. I think the plugs are fowled up due to the rich mixture.

You answered your own question------ you've got a carb problem.
