my buddy is building his 88 gt for a bigblock set up. heres the deal, he can get a inspection sticker in MD, then build the car, but how long is the sticker good for? he knows he can get the sticker not and maybe not later, thats why he want sto do it now. also, it seems like here in Maryland, as soon as you get a used car on the road emmisions dept call you in? how can you get a bigblock to go through?

You only have to State Inspect a car in MD when you first get it, emission testing is every 2 years.

That is why I moved from the Westminster, MD area to Hanover, PA...of course now we have inspection and emissons every year but I know where to go

make a mid-pipe out of converters
put 4 on each side and if that passes emissions change the mid-pipe after you get home

It's all about who you know.....

Do whatever makes you (your friend) happy. Everything will be illegal in 10 years anyways but noone will care. 1/2 of everything is illegal now and nobody cares. Cops know its ridiculous, we know it's ridiculous, stations know its ridiculous. They will only bust your butt if you give them reason. If the station thinks your car looks stock enough to get away with it and they like you to boot, they might take a risk. If you have a 6 foot tall hood scoop, no luck. Same thing with cops. If you're cruising around and being "nice", probably no problem. If you're attracting attention and showing off, they'll find a reason to mess with you.

I think they just want to take as many older cars off the road as they can to force people to buy new ones. If you're tinkering with an old car, your're not buying as new one and being a good little consumer.
