I'm back to give it another shot

Hello all. I haven't been around here in probably a year now, maybe more.

Anyway, a little background. My name is Josh and I live in Birmingham, Alabama. My current project is a 64 1/2 D-code Coupe which is in the body work stage right now. I bought the car in 1993 with intentions of dropping in the new engine and tranny and driving it for a while but college, marriage and problems with the car made that impossible. It pretty much just sat until 2000 when I started the teardown. It has been through a divorce and move with me and now my new family just loves it.

The undercarriage has been stripped and painted with Zero Rust. I just finished replacing a floorpan, trunkfloor, rear 1/4 patch, door patch and new cowl panels. I still need to paint the inside of the cowl and put the top back on then the welding should be complete and I can finish the body filler. Looking at spring '05 for paint.

The car was originally Vintage Burgandy with Black interior but will be going to Dark Toredor Red with "Parchment" interior. It's also getting front buckets from a Honda Prelude, 3 point belts, a "Sure Fit" a/c system from Vintage Auto Air. Suspension mods include Shelby drop, 440# 1" drop springs, R&C disc brakes, power to manual steering conversion in front and 5 leaf mid eye springs in the rear.

The '65 289 has been bored .040 over with TRW flat top pistons, .010/.010 under ground crank, TRW .204/.214 dur-.448/.470 lift cam, edelbrock double roller timing set, Edelbrock F4B high rise, Carb is undecided, BlackJack headers. All putting power through a C4 which will eventually be changed for an AOD and something steeper than the 3.00s out back.

Some pictures from my OLD website. Disregard some of the text.

Right on. My first car was a '65 coupe in Vintage Burgundy with a black standard interior. That brings back memories. It'll look great in your new color combo though! Good luck with the project and I hope you have a better experience here than you had in the past.

Hello all. I haven't been around here in probably a year now. I gave up when there was too much immaturity for me to want to deal with. Just thought I'd come back and see how things are now. Hopefully much better.

Why would you start a stangnet post like this? You are just asking for someone to comment on it. You could have just started it telling us about your car...like you did in your second paragraph.

:nonono: Why wouldn't I? That should be the question. Why the hell would you question me about it in the first place?

I left because it was about as useful as the Lounge over at Corral.net. Just a bunch of immature people bickering and serving no purpose other than to cause trouble. I came back because I know people from other boards that told me I should give it another shot. Apparently not everything has changed. :hail2:

Well welcome back, Stangnet, in my experience has been really helpful. It is a good place where people can come together, talk about classic cars, express there opinions, where in reality no one should have the need to get angry or post immature comments because we are not even talking to each other face to face but rather looking at a computer screen. If some feel the need to settle differneces, take it to the track or the boxing ring.

You think after a year things are gonna change. So, if I say your first post was dorky, that would be immature, bye, see you next year. Welcome back. In life you're gonna run into all types. I'm not really laying it onto to you. Just piggybacking off allcarfan. He has a point. You can respond to everything that anoys you, or you can ignore it. The forum is what you make it. Leaving for a year does none any good. We don't get your opinion and knowledge and you don't get ours.

And still, you come here insulting fellow stangnetters and getting your panties in a wad? What I was saying was...why not just 'come back' and not say anything at all that pertains to complaining about how this site was the last time you were here? If you want to bicker, complain about the immaturity YOU experience, or other bad other experiences that you had, how about taking them to the talk section?

Dont worry, when you have a TECHNICAL issue or need ADVICE on what to do or how to do something with your classic mustang, I will still answer. I wont hold a grudge. I wont accuse you or anyone else of being immature after not posting for a year and then coming back to complain about it. If nothing has changed for YOU here in a year here, maybe it isnt the Classic Forums people that have the problem. It could be that your infinite knowledge and wisdom of classic cars far exceeds all of us immature people's knowledge put together and this site just isnt for someone of your spectacular caliber. Good luck, im done.

I'd have to agree with allcarfan. The first part of the original post in the forum is, to a degree, degrading/offensive/prejudiced to everyone who posts on this site. I felt catagorized from it and I have only been a member for a couple months.

:rlaugh:

You guys are too much. Some of you must aspire to someday be members of corner-carvers. Unfortunately, you have a ways to go as those guys have WAY better insults and comebacks.

Not that I have to explain anything to anyone here but I wasn't trying to insult anyone with my post and I sure didn't want to get into a pissing match. I was just stating the reason I left was because the place was overrun by people who had nothing better to do than talk about what ricer they beat on the street while endangering other drivers and what most of you just did.......bash people for no good reason. I can tell you right now that I don't need this crap. I have other forums to go to for any information I may need.

Nice shot, Latamud. Haven't seen you on VMF in a while. Funny I don't remember you being an ass over there.

**Disclaimer - I'm not getting involved in this thread. I just want to comment on the quote above.

The CC smack downs used to be great. They've tapered off a bit. My favorite when was Jon, or Jim, one of them, called Terry from TCP a felching dick weasel. That was too funny

Well, I for one have been here as long as you have judging by our join dates, I can't say I missed you since I was never aware you were ever even here much less gone but like the others I don't personally care for the way you chose to re-introduce yourself either. Like a a marriage, I chose to stick things out for better or worse, give and take, so if your searching for a Utopia on the internet, good luck with that, they don't exist here or in real life, you'll get out what you put in plain and simple. I have taken alot of knowledge off this board over the years, and so I still come to now give back, take a penny leave a penny. If you want to exchange knowledge, fine, you are welcome and I will certainly contribute what I can to your questions but your intitial comment paints me a picture of a quitter who only likes the smooth road even though life itself is riddled with bumps. Perhaps we are all wrong and you are right, but in a way this is our house, majority has to rule, so if we still are not up to your standards, then hopefully you have remembered where the door was still as well. Of course we always prefer that you choose to stay and contribute, but we can't make you, heck it seems even reasoning with you is difficult, so the choice is yours to make.

You know that punk attitude that you find on alot of boards with young members? That's what I encountered when I first joined. It was all about who beat what on the street and noone could answer a tech question. I decided that wasn't for me since I had another board that was my primary one. People have enough conflict and strife in their lives without having to deal with internet drama. Again, I DIDN'T COME HERE TO CAUSE PROBLEMS OR INSULT ANYONE. I apologize to those of you who took it that way.

I'll be on my merry way now. To those of you who DO know me. I'll see you at TMS.

I've been here about a year and besides this post, there have only been a handful of others that could be considered ones that "got out of hand." It does keep the reads somewhat entertaining but I prefer the pure tech stuff (as I think most of the people here do as well).

This is a good "Tech" forum. Especially for the resto-mod crowd. Corral's early Mustang board is pretty thin but there is an occasional good posting there. VMF is also a great resource. I've found the focus to be more of the pure restoration crowd but there are a ton of posts on 5-speed and EFI swaps.

I've been on corner-carvers for about 5 years when I started autocrossing my Cobra Mustang. I use it now mostly for reference since most everything dealing with suspensions has already been discussed. I agree you better know what you are talking about or they will tear you a new one. However, it can't beat it for the depth of knowledge on the board.

If TMS is The Mustang Source, they no longer have a classic board.

I agree with allcarfan that you didn't start the post with the right strategy/verbiage/whatever. I still think you should sack up and stick around.

Well, I've been on here longer than any of you and I don't remember the type of stuff that you're talking about (but I've slept a couple times since Aug. 2000). That's not to say it didn't happen, but you have a total of 5 posts and you have 4 in this thread, I'm wondering how much of a chance you gave us?

I find a crap on all boards, doesn't matter about what the subject is. In reality, I find this board one of the least in having BS., problem is, most everyone hides behind a monitor and doesn't treat people like they would face to face as there are no consiquences (or spell check, lol!!) here on the 'net. I try to look at my typing before I hit post and to look at it from another's point of view so that what I'm typing doesn't come across the wrong way (doesn't always work, but does most of the time).

All that aside, sounds like a neat project. I have a '65 A-code coupe that I'm not really sure what route I want to go with. Factory bench seat car, vinyl top, front disc, factory a/c, standard black interior, Honey Gold exterior, 3-speed car. Not sure if I want to resto (only 14k bench seat cars in '65, not sure how many considering other options, not that it matters), restomod, trans-am or g-machine.

If you don't like what someone says, you can simply ignore them and focus on the stuff you like. Like what you are doing with your car, which sounds pretty cool. I've been on the Net a long time and there are always those who will fit into the immaturity space; don't get drawn into the crap. It is up to you whether you react of not. I choose not to. I like Mustangs and that is what I will talk about. I'm about to start another build on my '65 convert. which has around 155,000 miles on this build. Got the quote for bodywork/paint, got a rebuildable engine and have a new interior in boxes. Now I just have to get unlazy!! Welcome back and please don't get drawn into the crap of what frustrates you.....
