Im geting rid of my LS1 for a new Cobra or a new Mach1

I took my Z28 to the dealership yester day for transmision work and as soon as i get it back we are taking the headers off and some other crap and im trading it in on a mustang i want to get a new mach1 and put my P1SC that i bought for my 03 GT that never got used i think the mach would be runing MACH BASTARD FAST LOL.................

if u could pick a 04 cobra or a 04 mach1 witch one would u get ?

I'd get a 03 Cobra, those things are monsters. I honestly think that is the best cobra they have ever made. Only thing i don't like about it is that IRS. The Mach is a good car but when it comes to mods and lasting the 03 Cobra got it.

Just wondering what was wrong with the LS1, whats making you go to the other side? lol I'm going the other way, soon as i get my car back i'm going to trade it in for a 01-02 WS6. I'd like to buy a 03 Cobra but I haven't had good luck with any Ford I have own.

I love Mustangs but damn i'm just scared of getting another one at this point of my life.

I don't think you could go wrong either way. I perfer the Mach and could have had either. The Mach is a 2 year only car and looks much better than the Cobra IMO.

As far as mods go you can do that to any car. Go to www.mach1registry.com to find out more about the Mach. There are members that are going high 11's NA without NOS, power adders, or cracking open the motor.

Power one of those things that if you chase it you'll never be happy until your car is so modded it's not any fun to drive on the street IMO

The reason for geting rid of my ls1 is cause ive got about 6,000 nitrous miles on the car and it just hit 16,000miles and i dont want any car w over 20,000mi on it so i thought i would get another mustang and do the stang thing again and then when i get out of school buy a trans am and do a MTI 427ci eng and add some nitrous and etc.... but till then i want a mach1 or a cobra....

"millattime" ive had the procharger kit for almost a year and still have not goen rid of it yet so i might just buy the mach1 and put my procharger or my nx wet kit on it or buy the cobra and put a 75 shot on it so i can rule the ls1's w a mustang that is something the mustang's dont do around my town.........

High 11s is cool with the mach one but still it doesn't have any forged internels. Spray or put a blower on those mach motors running 11s and i'm sure they will blow. The Cobra on the other hand is beef up so it can hold a lot more hp. Plus gettin a Cobra in high 11s is easy too. I guess it all comes down to what you like and what your looking for.

Twink what did you run with the z28 stock and with spray?

Your right the Mach only has an forged crank, but you'd be wrong in assuming the high compression Mach doesn't love the spray. And in fact an turbo or SC isn't too bad if you don't over do it.

There actually quite a few SC/Turbo Mach's and I haven't heard of any problems with any of them other than being the first to have them tuned but the big companies are coming out with kits now.

Both cars will need upgrades to the rearend/IRS to do anywhere near high 11's without towing it back from the track. In fact the IRS unit is very marginal with it's stock HP for drag racing. This unit was great on the 99/01 Cobra's HP range.

Just depends on what you want IMO anything over 400RWHP is far too much for the street to be fun. You run street tires and it's too much for them or you run DR's and they are very dangerous in weather. If your a track guy only knock yourself out but for a daily driver you can over do it.

still wondering why you wouldnt get the mach 1 over the cobra. you have the supercharger and nitrous already...no need for the extra power of the cobra. pay an extra 3 grand and forge the mach 1 and you still save 3-6 grand over the cobra.

on a side note, my old 98 z28 with 100shot with all boltons..LT headers,loudmouth,lid,pulley,ls6 maf and some suspension with stock gears was running 12.0@117mph with a 2.068 60foot.

get the cobra. I watched a program on discovery channel you can put a smaller pulley on the supercharger and a simple program change and gain a ton of horsepower.

Mach 1 all the way. Sure, the cobra is nice but the mach 1 is UNIQUE. It doesn't have forged pistons, true, but the crank is forged(well, for the 5 spd it is). As long as you don't run into detonation it'll handle over 400 HP with ease. Boost is fine, you just have to keep it to around 8 psi- which will still give you over 430 RWHP. As far as getting rid of it in a few years for a Cambird with a 427, why not just keep it and drop in a 324 DOHC stroker. Fords 5.0 FR500 DOHC make over 400 HP from just 302 CI. Think about what a 324 CI motor could do with DOHC heads.......

My Z28 w 75shot went 12.00 @117mph w nittos
and all motor it went 13.00 and higher

I am going to be buying a 03 COBRA as soon as i get my car back and pull the headers off of it.......

I am going w the UPR 03 COBRA kit and adding a set of LT'S and a steeda tri-ax shifter for now and after about 10,000miles im going to be puting a 50 or 75 shot on top of thing's and probaly take the car to the dyno and have it tuned

Take it from a Mach owner, go with the Cobra. I should have, and am kicking myself for not ponying up the extra 5k for it. Been working numbers all last week to see if a trade is possible, but I'd be eating 7k upside down..
