If you really wanna mess around with putting a 3 speed auto in our cars, you have some work ahead of you.....save up a couple hundred more and just have your aode rebuilt, our transmissions are computer controlled, the c6 isn't, plus a ton of other stuff I don't wanna get into. 400 bucks isn't a good deal though unless it's a b&m or TCI tranny

or look into the 4r70w swap......info can be found at lasotaracing.com

just some info to think about....look around for good prices....I paid $1400.00 for a built AODE.......that was built to hold over 700hp, so that about double what I need....

I think adapting the car to fit a C6 will end up costing you more than it's worth. I would try to get a rebuild AODE that bolts right in. That, and losing overdrive is really going to hurt your gas mileage.

If I had a C6 sitting in my garage and I needed a trans I wouldn't put it in my car. If I had an 67 Mustang with a big block and nitrous thats when I would use the C. With only 3 gears the gas milage would be awful. I say rebuild the aode.

I have a built AOD in my 95 mustang. Manual valve body and all upgraded guts. (Totalled the lincoln mark 7 it was in) The AODE from the 95 mustang felt worse than my AOD when it was bone stock. But i hear the AODE can be built up pretty well. Turn it into a manual valve body tranny and upgrade the guts....You will be happy. Im not one for having a computer control my transmission. AOD is a cousin of the c4/ c6. Rebuild the AODE it with a manual valve body.

Agreed, There good for a big block car thats doing nothing but running down the track. They just arent good for the lower power and gas mileage needed for today. They are decent for what they do, but I wouldnt touch it unless it came with an older car.

Take that AODE and chunk it, find a T5 and swap over to the manual.:D

A good AODE rebuild is going to cost less than or the same as a T5 conversion and be able to handle more power though....BUT only if it's built by a good rebuilder, most T5 conversions for our car cost in the $900 to $1500 range depending where you get them from. $1000 for a aode rebuild should net you a 500/600 hp capable aode in the hands of a good builder. Just something to think about
